party for overseas
The socialist party ‘s office met Tuesday, October 7 with all its national secretaries . At this meeting
, Jean -christophe Cambadélis , the first secretary announced that Ericka Bareigts a member of the lower house of french Parliament (or national Assembly) from the island of Réunion was
appointed national Secretary in
charge of overseas regions and territories.
Since Harlem
Désir resigned as head of the socialist party (PS), this job had not been given to anyone...
Victorin Lurel , the former
minister for overseas had held
that portfolio until it enters the Ayrault government. He was replaced by David
Lebon from la Réunion until the latter
became head of Arnaud Montebourg
cabinet. Ericka Bareigts had
clearly said she wanted the job.
Forty seven year old Ericka Bareigts was born in
Saint-Denis, la Réunion. She is considered as a female politician of indian
origin with a promising future . This french politician ,member
of the Parti Socialiste (PS) is slowly being brought up to national politics.
In 2009, she was selected to lead the PS list in the DOM-TOM constituency for the 2009 European elections.
